To mark World Liver Day, the National Orientation Agency has urged Nigerians to embrace more wholesome living habits to protect their liver well-being.
The organization highlighted the significance of keeping your liver healthy via educated life decisions in an official statement posted on their social media channels.
The warning was aimed at discouraging detrimental practices like overindulgence in alcohol, leading a mostly inactive life, and using medication improperly without appropriate medical advice.
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) urged citizens to remain physically active, include abundant fruits and veggies in their meals, hydrate frequently by drinking lots of water, and schedule routine health examinations to keep an eye on their liver health.
"The liver acts as a filter for toxins, aids in digestion, and is essential for sustaining overall health," the agency noted, highlighting the organ's critical function in digestion, cleansing, and general well-being.
The organization further emphasized its continuous dedication to educating the public about health matters, pointing out numerous health-related programs launched during the last twenty-four months.
The NOA, through its Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers, has been proactively interacting with various communities nationwide. They have reached out to traders, transportation workers, farmers, women, young people, civil society organizations, and religious institutions.
"These activities are part of larger public health advocacy initiatives, which include comprehensive campaigns aimed at preventing infectious diseases like Lassa fever, cholera, and cerebrospinal meningitis. These programs have been carried out in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, aiding in spreading reliable information and essential healthcare resources across the country," the statement further explained.
